Make Sure You Have Your Say In All Elections

10 August 2007

Kensington and Chelsea Council today reminded residents to complete their electoral canvass registration forms that will land on their door mat in the next few weeks.

Electoral canvass packs will be delivered to all households in the borough from today (10 August) and residents need to complete and return the form so as not to lose their vote.

If there are any changes in the information the Council holds on the Electoral Register, residents must amend the details and return the form. Even if there are no changes, residents must still sign and return the form, or use either the telephone or Council’s website to confirm their details.

“With the election for the Mayor of London in May next year it is important for all Londoners to have their say”, said Cllr Daniel Moylan, Deputy Leader of the Council.

“Being on the Electoral Register will also make it easier for residents who are applying for credit or want to apply or renew a resident parking permit.”

To be eligible to register to vote residents of Kensington and Chelsea must be 18 years of age or older and a British, Irish, Commonwealth, or other European Union citizen. Details of anyone who is 16 or 17 years old may also be added to the form.

For more information about registering to vote, visit www.rbkc.gov.uk/elect or contact the Council’s Electoral Services Helpline on 020 7361 3444 or email elect@rbkc.gov.uk.
