Council Looking To Lift Gold in August

03 August 2007

While most Council staff take a leisurely holiday in August, Personnel Officer Caroline Charles has other things on her mind. Caroline is looking to win back the gold medal in the Women's World Masters Weightlifting Championships.

The Championships take place in Kazincbarcika in Hungary and Caroline is going out there determined to take gold for Great Britain in the 58kg class for the over 45s.

Caroline, who is an employee relations officer, trains three times a week and has represented Great Britain for 16 years as a senior competitor and a Master.

Councillor Merrick Cockell, Leader of the Council, said: "I'm sure everyone in the Council and in the Royal Borough will be cheering Caroline on when she lifts for Great Britain in Hungary and we look forward to her bringing home a medal, hopefully a gold one."
