Green Flag Awards for Two Kensington & Chelsea Parks
23 July 2007
Two parks in Kensington and Chelsea have been awarded the prestigious Green Flag Award.
Holland Park has won the award for the seventh time in a row, while Kensington Memorial Park is celebrating winning the award for the first time.
The Green Flag award recognises the best green spaces in England and Wales. Winning the green flag is a special honour for the Royal Borough and a way of encouraging other parks and green spaces to achieve the same high environmental standards as those in Holland Park and Kensington Memorial Park
Cllr Nicholas Paget-Brown, Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Environmental Management and Leisure, said: “Holland Park and Kensington Memorial Park are two of the most wonderful public spaces in the Borough. Lots of us enjoy using them and I’m delighted that they have now been recognised on a national level.”
The Green Flag Award has been in existence since 1996, and awards are given on an annual basis.
