Royal Academy Artists Display Their Work in the Royal Borough

12 September 2007

The sumptuous interior of Leighton House has been transformed this week with a display by students from the Royal College of Art.

The Kensington museum is hosting the exhibition of works by ceramic and glass artists throughout this week.

The exhibition, called ‘The Intervening Guests’, adds a new dimension to one of the nineteenth century’s most extraordinary buildings which is famous for being the home of Fredrick, Lord Leighton, the Victorian painter and president of the Royal Academy.

The exhibition involved students visiting Leighton House and creating a work of art which reflected the interior of the building.

Cllr Nicholas Paget-Brown, Cabinet Member for Leisure and Regeneration, said:

“Leighton House is one of the borough’s most attractive buildings and this is an excellent chance to see some first-class art in some wonderful surroundings.”

The exhibition lasts until Sunday 16 September. Leighton House is open from 11am to 5.30pm daily.
