May 2008 By-Elections
02 May 2008
Kensington and Chelsea Council and Hammersmith and Fulham Council are both delighted to welcome their newest members. Councillors Quentin Marshall and Ali de Lisle were returned with significant majorities - over a thousand voters in each case - in yesterday's by-election.
These results were representative of the immense success of the Party in nation-wide Council elections, and Labour's worst defeat for 40 years. The Mayoral count is underway as this is written, and a Conservative Mayor of London would be the greatest reward after a long and hard-fought campaign.
